Chief Justice David Maraga has reacted to claims that he denied paternity of a baby he allegedly sired with another woman.
Three lawyers representing CJ Maraga have said that they will write to the DCI to authenticate the root of the documents issued by the lady.
Lawyers Danstan Omari, Samson Nyaberi and Anita Masako said the lady identified as Mary Kwamboka Onyancha did not file the case at the Children’s court as she had earlier.
Omari told the press that the birth certificate and the application is forged.
“We have had a perusal and due deligence of the annexures that have been filed to accompany this. For those who have access to the birth certificate.. there is no registrar known as Shamwata in the whole country nor has there been an officer with the name N.P Otieno,” Omari said.
“This certificate is generated not a document to be relied on,” he added.
Omari said there has been pressure for the Chief Justice to resign before his term ends.
In a clip that has gone viral on social media, Kwamboka alleged that she had a romantic relationship with Maraga between 2013-2014 when the child in question was born.
The is now demanding a Sh161,000 monthly upkeep for the child which includes Sh45,000 rent, Sh20,000 food, Sh5,000 for clothing among other expenses.
