This is a story posted on Twitter by Njuguna Nyenjeri (@ECDGraduate), it has a dark ending. It tells the story of a man who went for voluntary testing for Covid-19 and tests posted but waites to be picked from his home to be taken to hospital for 5 days, why? Hospitals are full.

COVID MENACE IN KIAMBU

Thread:

This man (Name with held) volunteer to get tested.
He lives in Githurai 45, Kiambu.
After sometime, he received a call from COVID RESPONSE TEAM

Caller: Are you so and so?

Him: Ndio

Caller: Your results are out. You are Covid positive. (No prior warning or counseling)
You should not leave your house. Stay indoors. Do mot spread. We will come and pick you. Don’t go outside.

He was told

Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
No one comes to pick him

He calls the Covid number. They tell him same things. We will come for you.

Day 4
No one comes.

He stars falling sick. He keeps calling. Same response.
Yesterday. He developed mild headache and chest pains.
He called them and asked them why they are not coming for him.

He was told to go buy some medicine from chemist.

He asked them how was that possible?! Why should they tell him to go to a chemist. Will he not infect the chemisists??
They decided to tell him the truth.

He was now told, Mbagathi is Full. KU is full. No beds. If a bed becomes vacant, they will definitely come for him.
Today, he feared he might die. He took a Matatu to KNH where he is admitted now.
My people, the hospital has started to get overwhelmed.
