Covid-19: KCB shuts Mvita branch after staff tested positive

Kenya Commercial Bank has temporarily shut its Mvita branch in Mombasa after a staffer tested positive for the covid-19.

Bank CEO Joshua Oigara on Tuesday confirmed the case through a statement to the press where he also revealed that contact tracing has already began with his colleagues.

“The staffers who were working with him have been informed and are currently undergoing counseling and screening to ensure their safety and well-being,” Oigara said.

KCB Mvita branch will remain temporarily closed for three days after the Central Bank of Kenya approved the move to enable immediate cleaning and disinfection of the premises.

“Our priority remains to safeguard the safety and well-being of all our staff, customers, and other stakeholders during these difficult times.” he added

He said the bank has already deployed screening and quarantine protocol to manage the incident as the affected clients have been asked to access bank services through digital platforms like KCB-M-Peas, Vooma, and internet banking and other alternatives.
