COVID-19: Kenya records 72 new cases

Health CAS Rashid Aman on Tuesday, June 2, announced that 72 individuals had tested positive for Covid-19 over the preceding 24 hours, bringing the total confirmed cases in the country to 2,093.

Speaking during the daily Covid-19 briefing at Afya House, the CAS stated that 2,892 samples had been tested during the period bringing the total samples tested in the country to 82,946

He further revealed that of the new cases, 50 were male and 22 female, with the youngest an 11-year-old and oldest being 73 years of age.

17 Covid-19 patients were discharged over the same period after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 499.

CS Aman revealed that the spike in positive Covid-19 numbers was caused by increased targeted testing and urged Kenyans to keep observing appropriate measures to curb its spread.

He further reinforced that truck drivers were to continue taking Covid-19 tests 48 hours before every trip and carry their negative certificates throughout the East African borders.

“It is unfortunate that some of our truck drivers are not following instructions hence causing problems at the borders,” he stated.
