A Police officer was fatally shot by an armed robber that had been cornered by crib officers in Nyakach.

SUBJECT: DEATH OF A POLICE / SHOOTING INCIDENT REPORT.
Ref my OB 11/30/09/2022. A team of police officers from KPS and DCI Nyanza CRIB and Nyakach acting on tipoff proceeded to Troy apartment situated within Pap_onditi area Map ref YQ218348 about 300meters North East of the station. During the pursuit, the suspected armed robber who is believed to have have committed a series of robberies in Kisumu, Homabay and Migori Counties started shooting indiscriminately at officers from the third floor where he had recently rented. The officer engaged with suspect in a shootout whom later managed to escape with gunshot wounds. The team was later reinforced with other officers led by Nyakach SCPC and DCI team from Nyanza Region. The following officers were injured;
1.No. 234997 CI Christopher Cherwon. He suffered gunshot injury on the left hand.
2.No. 69873 Cpl Elijah Letting. He suffered gunshot injury on the right thigh and chest, both are admitted at JOOTRH in stable condition.
3. No.78589 PC Isaac Naibei was fatally injured. The scene was processed by CSI team Kisumu and body removed to Star hospital mortuary pending autopsy. The following amos were spent;

2.No. 77673 PC Adan Sharamo spent 9 rounds from AK s/no 4912936
3. 110327 PC Nicholas Birgen. Operation to arrest the suspect is ongoing. More report to follow. Case P.U.I. DCI Nyakach dealing.
