ne suspect who is alleged to be linked to a group of goons who broke into Kibos Police armory and made away with three riffles and several rounds of ammunition has been arrested by detectives at his Kanyakwar home village in Kisumu.
The suspect also allegedly robbed an Mpesa agent at Daraja Mbili in Kisumu off of Sh230,000.
After looting the armory, the suspect and a group of five men are said to have gone to the Mpesa agent’s home and using the G3 rifle robbed her of the amount, three mobile phones & a TV set before escaping on two motorcycles.
The suspect was found with a G3 rifle nicely tucked in a sack during the arrest. “The said rifle was identified as having been stolen from Kibos P/Post on the night of 28th March 2020.” The statement by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations read.
The group is said to have taken advantage of the heavy downpour broken into the armory and stolen three rifles, four magazines & about 150 rounds of ammunition.
The suspect has since led the police to another of his partners in crime house within the same locality where among other items 3 police jungle jackets and trousers, 3 jungle belts, 3 service color belts, 2 berets, a police manual, air of military boots and a TV set were recovered, the said items were identified as having been stolen from the house of an Inspector of Police on 10th March.
The Suspect is in custody with detectives pursuing the rest of the gang.
