DCI reveal new trick criminals are using to steal from innocent Kenyans

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has raised concern over increased cases of cybercrime in the country in the recent past.

In a tweet on Friday, DCI said that con artists are now sending Kenyans emails with jobs offers. The office of the DCI warned Kenyans against these scammers.

He noted that some of them offer jobs at some fees but they never live up to their promises at the end of the day. He asked the entire nation not to allow such scammers to dupe them without their knowledge and rob them of their hard-earned cash at the end of the day

“Beware of the emails, which offer jobs in exchange for money, such e-mails are spam. No organization/ company ever asks for money to work for them.- @CyberDost #OnlineFraudsters #OnlineFraudstersKe,” he tweeted.

DCI also reminded Kenyans to revisit the Act of Parliament so that they can understand more about online fraud.

“There is an Act of Parliament to provide for offences relating to computer systems, to enable timely and effective detection, prohibition, prevention, response, investigation and prosecution of computer and cybercrimes- @MyKenyaLaw #OnlineFraudsters” DCI retweeted.

The government has been on alert as cases of cyber crime become a subject of national concern.
