Fresh details have emerged of the Deputy President William Ruto’s planned visit to Kisumu to attend this years Madaraka day celebrations set to take place at the lake side city tomorrow June 1st 2021.
Reports from his communications team indicate that the DP will be in attendance in Kisumu only for the celebrations strictly following his only invitation on the same.
Speaking earlier today, Director of Communication in the office of the Deputy President Emmanuel Talam stated that Dr.Ruto will grace the celebrations, but not take paert in his planned projects launch.
“He has been invited for the Madaraka Day celebrations and he will definitely go. For the other projects, he has not been invited. Those are different functions,” Talam said.
The news comes amid recent uproar from a section of the DP allied leaders claiming that the second in command had been sidelined from anumber of government fuctions.
The local publications have been on the record capturing the statehouse statement that the head of state would be accompanied to Kisumu with his Burundi Counterpart Everiste Ndashimiye and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Keiyo South legislator Daniel Rono was for instance on the record terming it a sad state of the affair following the DP’s alleged snubbing.

“It’s Madaraka Day for the two handshake partners and their cronies. A very sad situation but everything will change soon, they will never stop the power of God and the people,” Keiyo South Member of Parliament Daniel Rono to Daily Nation on May 31.
His words were reiterated by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen who called on the head of state to also have a meeting with the rift valley region like he did with Raila’s home turf ahead of the Madaraka day celebrations.
“For our region we want to discuss Govt projects and the economy especially farmers issues. Will he really meet us or visit R.Valley anytime soon?” he posed.
Kipchumba also lamented that a number of projects currently being launched by the head of state are also dependent on the relationship with the President.
“The President told the Luo leaders to take advantage of good relationship between him and Raila Odinga to ensure projects are budgeted and completed in their region.
“Really? Why should development of any part of Kenya be dependent on personal relationships with the President?” Murkomen posed.
