Odinga’s chopper crashed on Sunday, May 30, 2021 in Gem Constituency.
The chopper that had ferried the former Prime Minister crashed shortly after it had dropped him at Kudho Primary School in Gem Constituency.
While confirming the incident, Raila stated that the helicopter, Bell 407, crashed when it attempted to lift off the ground in order to create space for other planes.
The pilot and four others who were on board escaped with minor injuries. However, there were no fatalities reported from the accident.
After the incidence, The Opposition leader joined President Uhuru Kenyatta for his tour in the Nyanza Region.
President Uhuru Kenyatta while accompanied by the Former Premier, commissioned the Shs 2.4 Billion Bondo Water Supply Project in Siaya County.
The duo also visited an expansive project, implemented by Lake Victoria Water Works Development Agency, which will enhance water supply to Bondo and Siaya towns, and construction of sewer treatment points in the two towns.
Kisumu County will play the host to the 2021 Madaraka Day Celebration which will be held at the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium.
The State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena had confirmed that Madaraka Day Celebration event will be an invite only event adding that only 3000 attendees will be allowed into the premises down from the initial 30,000.
The number was reduced to curb the spread of the deadly Indian variant Covid-19 that has been recorded in Kisumu County.
Initially, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga were expected to ttravel via train from Naivasha to Kisumu following its recent upgrade, however, Kanze Dena clarified that the two had aborted that plan due to unavoidable circumstances.
