In early 2020, I Tweeted @Cobyi asking her to pay for websites I had delivered for her companies @IbuaAfrica
& @IbuaImpactFund. Surprisingly she agreed and said she was sending it via M-PESA. I was elated as previous attempts to ask for the payment offline had not borne any fruit

Shock on me when I started receiving demand notices Left Right & Center. Mara WhatsApp, Email, Workplace. They threatened me with legal action if I didn’t delete the tweets and that I should issue a public apology. Confusion galore!
By this time #KOT had taken up the matter and it was already trending. I started receiving numerous offers via DM for probono legal representation. First to come through was @sikri_ and we went ahead and did counter demand letters. Then corona hit and things sort of cooled down.

On 26th April 2021. Something amazing in the legal fraternity happened. The @KenyaJudiciary
launched the first-ever Small Claims Court to determine suits for claims below Sh1 million, with rulings expected in 60 days.

The Judiciary Kenya Ag CJ Philomena Mwilu has today launched the Small Claims Court at Milimani. This is a special court dealing with cases of up to Ksh 1 million. The judgement is in 2 months. It will improve ease of doing business. The launch was live-streamed on Facebook
I talk to @sikri_ and we file a case. Things moved so fast. I was required to show up on the hearing day for cross-examination. 12th October 2021…First time in court, it was a virtual hearing, @Cobyi came too.

Highlight of the case; her lawyer coming late to the hearing and having the guts to ask me why I stayed since 2018 without filing the case . That was an easy one… Lol! @Cobyi kept on saying inconsistent stuff. Lying is really difficult.
Two months later, we received a ruling in our favour awarding us the full amount plus interest & cost. Thank you very much @sikri_ for the legal guidance and representation. Thanks to everyone who highlighted this case and those who offered their encouragement and advice via DM.

Hopefully, @Cobyi will comply with yesterday’s ruling and pay up in full. She seems to get it wrong all the time though.
Her social media attitudes have enraged Kenyans, and calls that she repay the debt are pouring in, particularly from Buyer Beware, where she was revealed this morning.

Her social media attitudes have enraged Kenyans, and calls that she repay the debt are pouring in, particularly from Buyer Beware, where she was revealed this morning.

Last time responded to the allegation now proved in court in favour of the developer, Damaris Mumbi Ndungu told her followers that she was being cyberbullied and had sought the help of a lawyer on the matter, a statement that angered social media users who urged her not to spend money on lawyers but pay the developer who deserves it since she liked his work, as per the chats shared online.

According to social media users, Mumbi depicts a luxury lifestyle on Instagram, where she photographs who and who in Kenyan society in order to get investors into her impact fund. According to a source we spoke with, she has managed to enlist the help of her colleagues daystar journalists in her scheme by convincing them to invite her to Githeri Media in order to further her operations.

Kenya has been riddled with actors acting as true crusaders, particularly in the business sphere.

This is not the first time that the media has brought drawbacks to light. Kenyans and social media users were taken aback by the case of Heshan de Silva. Heshan de Silva rose to prominence after appearing on K24’s Young Rich programme, which was later cancelled due to widespread criticism.
