In a twist of turn, the shining star in the education sector of Kenya Mount Kenya University (MKU) seems to have learnt new bad ways.
Fighting from obscurity to become the most popular private university, MKU, as it is popularly known, has an ongoing sex-for-marks scandal that involves at least two professors and several lecturers.
Senior management at the University is said to be working tirelessly to suppress the emerging scandal even as the Commission for Higher Education (CHE) is said to be scrutinizing anonymous complaints it has received about the campus.
Several female undergraduate students accuse MKU of unduly protecting its male lecturers who have developed a disturbing culture of sexual harassment against its large population of female students to upgrade their examination marks in exchange for sex.
MKU are trying to silence the ladies who have reported the matter variously.
Just like in the Nigerian expose’ that was carried out by BBC, randy lecturers at MKU took advantage of young female students who had put trust in them to get an education.
