Deputy President Dr. William Ruto has boldly responded to President Uhuru Kenyatta following a series of threatening remarks made by the Head of State in recent campaign rallies.
Dr Ruto told off Mr Kenyatta to focus on his retirement instead of meddling in the succession politics.
“Nataka nimuombe rais wetu wa Kenya. Tafadhali rais, you should not be the source of threats in Kenya. Wacha Kutisha wakenya. Kazi yako ni kuhakikisha wakenya wote wakae pamoja.
“Wacha kutuambia tunakujua wewe ni Rais, sisi ndo tulikuchagua na tulikuchagua uwe rais wa kenya. Wacha kututisha, sisi si watu wa kutishwa.” said Dr Ruto.
The DP was speaking during campaign rally in Kapsabet, Nandi County on Friday when he went on to tell the President to concentrate on marketing his candidate Raila Odinga instead of threatening and attacking him daily.
“Rafiki yangu Uhuru Kenyatta, please, wakati ulikua unahitaji watu wa kusimama na wewe tulisimama na wewe to the last man. Huyo Kitendawili unatusukumia saa hizi ni jamaa amehangaisha Kenya na alikuhangaisha ata wewe,” Ruto said.
“If you do not want to support me, leave me alone. With a lot of respect Mr President be a decent Human being, Kuwa muungwana, kuwa na shukurani, sisi ndo tulikusaidia, wacha kujifanya. Sasa wewe umeanza kunithreaten ati sijui utanifanya nini, bora usiue watoto wangu. Mimi na wewe tafadhali tuheshimane.” he added.
Ruto’s bare-knuckle response comes with only ten days left to the general elections as his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) remains the most popular party in Kenya according to TIFA polls.
The DP led party is enjoying a 41% lead compared to Raila Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) which garnered 30% in the popularity rating.
President Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party is placed a distant third with 5%t ,Wiper Democratic Movement 3% and Roots Party at 2%.
Ruto is running on a platform to introduce the bottom up economic model to create employment, expand tax base and fix the country’s debt ridden economy while Mr Odinga is promising to carry on with President Kenyatta’s economic policies which have led to uncontrolled borrowing and squandering.
