Drama as Mediamax Top Bosses Resign

Drama has rocked Mediamax Network Limited, as two more senior bosses tendered their resignations due to the 50pc pay cut brought about by low revenue due to Covid-19.

Peter Opondo and Caroline Mwangi who are the Head of TV and Digital and Head of Commercial respectively are said to have served their resignation notices

This will be the second time Opondo leaves the firm, his first being in 2015.

“Yes, I can confirm that Opondo resigned but he is currently serving his notice until the end of the month. Caroline has also resigned… I can’t say that this is exactly why but from my conversations, I can tell you the whole drama over the pay-cuts issue played a key role in Opondo making the decision to resign,” A source told Kenyans.co.ke

The resignations come as the firm is riddled with bad blood. Employees have in the recent past been fighting the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ken Ngaruiya, over his proposed 50pc salary cut implemented by the company over the negative economic effects by the coronavirus pandemic.

The employees had moved to court but were surprised on Thursday morning May 7th after their lawyer Juvenile lawyer David Ondieki Ayuka who is closely linked to former Mediamax Chairman failed to turn up in court to challenge the 50pc pay cut.

KenyanBulletin learned that the lawyer had already pocketed Sh140,000 from a paltry Sh 300,000 that was contributed by all K24 employees to sue the Kenyatta family.
