A student at Kisii’s Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) committed suicide after he found that his girlfriend was also involved with another
Preliminary reports into the incident indicated that the deceased student hanged himself in the girlfriend’s house after he was earlier involved in a scuffle with his girlfriend’s old lover.
Kitutu Chache South Sub-County, Police Commander Tom Achia said the deceased allegedly committed suicide using a rope at his girlfriend’s house in Bouti village on Tuesday night.
Achia explained that a physical fight ensued at the girlfriend’s house after the first boyfriend stormed into the house and found her with another man who left the two after the commotion.

The deceased allegedly decided to take his life after the first boyfriend left the house.
“The girlfriend to the deceased who is also a student at the said institution reported the matter to us and preliminary reports indicate that the incident was caused by a love affair gone sour,” said Achia.
Achia noted that the body of the deceased had visible deep cuts but investigations will establish if they were occasioned by a fight before the alleged suicide, or if suicide was a gimmick to hide the truth.
The body of the deceased has since been moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) mortuary awaiting a post mortem.
