EACC probing Magoha over unethical conduct

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has invited Uasin Gishu county director of Education Gitonga Mbaka to record a statement following an incident where he was insulted by Education CS George Magoha.

In a statement released on Monday said it has reasons to believe that Mr Mbaka would assist in probing the bully Magoha over unethical conduct.

“The commission has reason to believe you have information that may assist in investigation.” EACC said.

The top grade professor CS  was last week captured on camera insulting Mbaka at Langas Primary School in Uasin Gishu County.

The investigations come after the  PSC Communications Director Browne Kutswa transferred all human resource functions from Mgoha to  Education PS Richard Belio Kipsang.

“PSC Chairman Stephen Kirogo in a circular addressed to chairpersons of Public Universities Councils and copied to the Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua, said all human resource matters requiring the attention of the Public Service Commission shall henceforth be handled by Dr Kipsang as Authorized Officer of the Ministry until further notice,” Kirogo said.

But Magoha in his response said that only President Uhuru Kenyatta can transfer powers from him.

He categorically stated that his appointing authority is the president.

Magoha was reacting after PSC Chairman (Kirogo) emphasized that the move was in exercise of the PSC’s powers and commitment to protect public servants against undignified and unwarranted attacks.

The CS who is now under investigations also vowed to continue charging his all his duties.
