Eric Omondi has announced plans for protests in Nairobi’s Central Business District on Monday, May 18, following the latest fuel price increase.
The comedian, who has also declared interest in the Lang’ata parliamentary seat under the “Sisi Kwa Sisi” movement, urged Kenyans to join the demonstrations, saying the rising fuel prices continue to increase the cost of living for ordinary citizens.
In a message shared online, Omondi described Monday as a “public holiday” and called on wananchi to turn up in large numbers in Nairobi CBD.
He argued that higher fuel prices will raise transport costs, food prices, and the cost of other basic commodities, adding more pressure on struggling households.

The announcement comes days after the latest fuel price review sparked public concern among motorists, matatu operators, and consumers across the country. Fuel prices often affect the cost of goods and services because transport expenses rise across many sectors of the economy.
Omondi has recently become more vocal on social and economic issues affecting Kenyans. Besides comedy, he has taken part in activism campaigns focusing on unemployment, hunger, and the high cost of living.
The planned demonstrations continue to draw attention online and in the streets as more Kenyans protest the rising cost of living.
