An early morning message to the editor of this site shows a couple of screenshots of a conversation allegedly from Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party officials, chief among those the party’s comunications director Phillip Etale; on how Benard Otieno alias Imran Okoth was rigged.
The nominations which were praised to be very peaceful for a party that is known to hold nominations that are disrupted by the so-called ‘Men in Black’ had a sinister secret to it. Imran Okoth was to be rigged in.
But why?
The hotly contested seat is so due to the fact that the ODM party leader once ruled the constituency with a grip unmatched and losing the seat to a rival party would be like losing credibility.
Imran who rides on the popularity of his valiant and hero brother, the late Ken Okoth, ODM knew would be the perfect choice.
It is open secret that Jubilee had an interest in upstaging the former prime minister Raila Odinga and as such had sponsored the now unpopular former footballer MacDonald Mariga and another candidate in ODM who is weak, a Benson Musungu.
Mr. Musungu was campaigned for by Moses Kuria, raising eyebrows. It is known that Moses Kuria is a pro-Ruto Member of the National Assembly for Jubilee Party and as such, a weaker candidate was sponsored in ODM so that he can be defeated by another DP Ruto sponsored candidate, MacDonald Mariga.
There plans failed and it seems, ODM rigged in Imran to defeat the forces of Jubilee.
