In October 2018, the then Gusii Water and Sanitation Company Managing Director John Muguche went for a sick leave and like it was planned, corruption and misappropriation of funds took over at the water sanitation company.
Kenyanbulletin.com news desk has received insider details on how Gusii Water and Sanitation Company turned into a big mess after Mr Muguche went for a sick leave.
Our source tells us that as soon as Mr Muguche left for a sick leave, Kisii County Government appointed Osborn Nanga as the acting managing director a man who is not fit to engineer the crucial position.
Muguche’s time to return had reached and upon making an appearance at the company’s offices to resume duties, the then acting MD Osborn refused to hand over power due to ‘influence’ from the county government.
Our source reveals that, that is when they realised that Muguche was sacked informally and replaced by Osborn who served as a technical manager at the company before appointed the acting MD.
Our source further revealed that big pins from the county government appointed Osborn since he doesn’t say ‘no’ to any deal, clean or dirty.
The water sanitation company then appointed new board members, men and women who are currently misusing funds meant for running the company ruthlessly.
The board members led by the ignorant and cruel Mongeri Mirieri holds three meetings in a week against the required four meetings in each financial year.
The board members get lunch and transport allowances in every meeting they attend. Kes. 3,000 per person for lunch and Kes. 2,000 per person for transport totalling at Kes. 16,000 for transport and Kes. 24,000 for lunch per meeting.
According to WSREP regulations and the water acts regulations, meetings are supposed to be held four times in a financial year, one meeting in a quarter and two special meeting in case of an emergency.
Our source also revealed that most of the board members are related. The eight board members looting Gusii Water and Sanitation Company are,
- Mongeri Mirieri – Chairman of the board
- Justus Omari
- Fredrick Nyamweya
- Jackline Mireri
- Joseph Onserio
- Kissinger Ongoga
- Thomas Nyariki
- Beatrice Ochoki
In April 2019, the rogue administration advertised via a local newspaper seven top management posts but surprisingly by the beginning of this month (September) they have hired fifteen (15) employees.
