Former MCA dies

A family in Kajiado County is mourning the death of their kin who once served as Magadi Ward Member of County Assembly.

A communications representative from Kajiado County confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke that former MCA Peter Pariken had passed away in his home on Sunday, June 7. Details of the cause of his death are, however, yet to be revealed.

“I have no details. The fact is the person has died after he had been ailing and was taken to the hospital a week ago before being discharged,” stated the representative.

Taking to his social media pages, Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku mourned the deceased as a civic leader.

“Saddened by the tragic news of the demise of former Magadi MCA Peter Pariken.

“The late represented his community as their civic leader years ago. On behalf of myself, my family and the people of Kajiado, I register our heartfelt condolences to his family and the people of Magadi,” eulogised ole Lenku.

Pariken served as Magadi MCA between 2013 and 2017 before attempting to reclaim his seat on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket during the 2017 General Elections.

He was defeated by Joseph Masiaya Olteti who ran under the Jubilee Party.

Kajiado West MP George Risa Sunkunyia noted that he worked with the deceased and described him as a dependable and approachable person.

“Magadi Ward former councilor Hon. Peter Pariken was a dedicated and exceptional leader whose prowess in the line of duty was supreme. He was dependable, approachable, took pride in his work and endeavoured to put things right. In his sickening last days, he worked in my office as a staff.

“Hon. Pariken was my colleague at the county Assembly in 2002/2007 as a councilor, as well as my colleague as an MCA in 2013 – 2017,” stated the MP

“Our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to Pariken’s family, friends and the wider Loodokilani and Magadi fraternity,” he added.
