“It is notified to the general public that the seat of member of senate held by Mr Mwaura became vacant with effect from May 7, 2021,” were the words of Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka in a gazette notice dated May 10, 202, that declared Mwaura’s seat vacant.
Isaac Mwaura had been accused by Jubilee party that nominated him to senate of violating its constitution and membership oath by describing it as a dead party.
He was later summoned by the party.
He then rushed to the tribunal seeking to bar the Registrar of Political Parties from implementing Jubilee Party’s decision.
In its ruling, the tribunal found that the party had followed due process in expelling him and its internal mechanisms had been exhausted.
Isaac Mwaura was first given a job by Raila Odinga when Raila was PM. He worked as an Advisor at Raila Odinga’s Office.
He was then nominated into Parliament by Raila Odinga. Then he defected. Then he was nominated back to Parliament – this time by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Essentially for 15 years he has been working courtesy of Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta.
He then chose to bite the hands that have been kind to him. Something that angered Nyeri MP Ngunjiri Wambugu.
“Rather than be the poster-boy for the handshake & BBI that both [President Kenyatta and ODM Leader Raila Odinga] are now pushing for, he’s been the first person to throw personal shade at both; viciously and consistently.” Ngunjiri said in a statement.
