Orange Democratic Movement deputy party leader and Kakamega County Governor Wycliffe Oparanya over the weekend tabled his bold request to his party leader ahead of the 2022 general elections.

Through his
Saturday night Tweet, the County boss sought Raila Odinga’s blessings and
support in his 2022 presidential bid.

The former Council of Governor’s chair also noted that if Odinga threw his weight behind him, then he was sure of being the fifth President of Kenya.

“I humbly request my PL former PM Hon @RailaOdinga to support my presidential bid in the 2022 General Elections.

With his support, my development record, and reaching out to other national leaders for their support, I am confident of becoming the fifth President of this Country,” Oparanya tweeted

This comes as speculations are rife of the ODM big wig planning a
possible crossover to the DP’s team ahead of the coming polls.

During a recent interview, the Kakamega governor acknowledged his
friendship and willingness to work with Dr. Ruto.

He reiterated that the second in command is a force to reckon with in the greater rift-valley, terming him currently unbeatable in the region.

“You can be his enemy, but the Deputy President is my friend.
Kenyans should allow leaders to express themselves and talk freely.

“I cannot ignore Ruto. He has his people intact. Nobody can
beat him in Rift Valley,” he said.

He further stated that he will soon be overseeing series of
meetings with a number of leaders in the political quarters in the future.

Among the leaders he is set to meet soon include; President
Uhuru Kenyatta, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and the Amani National
Congress party leader Musalia Mudavadi.

“I will be meeting the Wiper leader very soon. I also want to
meet the President and leaders of other parties, among them Musalia Mudavadi
and Moses Wetang’ula, to discuss the same,” he opined.
