Governor Sang secures Cherargai freedom

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has walked to freedom after his county governor, Stephen Sang, paid Sh50,000 cash bail to secure his release.

Mr Cherargei, who was arrested at his Elgon View home in Eldoret on Tuesday morning, had been transferred to Kisumu Central Police Station.

The Nandi senator was arrested for comments he made at the weekend targeting critics of the Deputy President William Ruto.

Mr Cherargei claimed that they are profiling people who are criticizing the DP for unspecified action against them.

But while securing his release from the police, Governor Sang called upon the Directorate of Criminal Investigations head, Mr George Kinoti, to avoid “using unfortunate incidents to settle scores on leaders allied to the Deputy President.”
