A multi-agency team on the hunt for assailants who killed three police officers in Jaldesa, Marsabit, on Sunday recovered three guns that were stolen on that fateful day.

The officers were reportedly killed in banditry attack on November 6.

The office of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed the recovery.

Police recover guns were stolen from police killed in an attack in Marsabit.

“THREE G3 Rifles stolen after three Police Officers were on 6th November 2019 killed by a group of Assailants at Jaldesa in Marsabit while trying to protect Locals were today recovered along Jaldesa-Shurr Road,” tweeted DCI.

During the attack, 10 herders were also murdered and their cattle were stolen.

The incident reportedly happened in the wee hours of the morning where gunmen stormed Fora village and indiscriminately shot people including police officers.

A total of 13 people were left dead as attackers disappeared with an undisclosed number of cattle.

The recovery of the firearm raises hope that perhaps the perpetrators of the inhumane act will be brought to book.

The incident happened barely a month after more than 10 police officers died in Garissa after their vehicle ran over an Improvised Explosive Device (IED).
