Government spokesman Cyrus Oguna on Sunday, July 19 responded to reports claiming that he had tested positive for Covid-19.
Oguna allayed fears that he was admitted in hospital after contracting the deadly virus, clarifying that he was from an out of town assignment.
“We have noted reports on social media purporting that I have been admitted in hospital.
“I wish to clarify that I am well and just got back from an assignment out of town,” noted Oguna.
The reports of Oguna testing positive took social media by storm after former director of Digital Communications at State House Dennis Itumbi posted the reports.
Itumbi went on to upload a screenshot of a local daily that reported two Cabinet Secretaries had also tested positive for Covid-19.
“Two CSs have reportedly tested Covid Positive. One allegedly from Nyanza and the other from Rift Valley.
“Government Spokesman Cyrus Oguna also being reportedly tested positive too. Confirmed: There was no test targeting cabinet,” stated Itumbi.
According to the reports, Oguna was admitted at Nairobi Hospital after developing breathing complications which is one of the severe symptoms of Covid-19.
Oguna has been on a tour around the country alongside senior officials in the Ministry of Health including Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe to assess county preparedness.
