With a rogue lawywer, Freedom Fighter Fred Kubai’s family struggling their estate from a former maid

Christina Gakuhi who served celebrated freedom hero Fred Kubai as a housemaid is at the center of an inheritance battle that has pitted her against the family of the Mau Mau fighter. Fred was one of the famous Kapenguria Six prisoners who passed 23 years ago.

The two sides have been fighting over Kubai’s large estate after Ms Gakuhi moved to court seeking to inherit Kubai’s estate not long after his death in 1996. she claimed to be Kubai’s wife and that they have two sons together. Sources close to Kenyan Bulletin reveal that in affidavit, she swore that Kubai indicated in his will that she inherits all his property upon his death. The supposed will, dated January 19th 1991, was written a year after she claims to have gotten married to Kubai.

In december 19th 2013, High Court Judge W. M. Musyoka ruled in Gakuhi’s favor but Kubai’s aggrieved family members discovered that the will, ID copies and numbers were all fake. They later instituted criminal proceedings against Ms Gakuhi with hopes to reverse the court ruling. Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) discovered that the forged will was not from the late Fred Kubai. It was also discovered that the alleged sons were actually Gakuhi’s nephews.

With a rogue lawywer, Freedom Fighter Fred Kubai’s family struggling their estate from a former maidshe charged with with six counts of forgery which included the IDs and the will in a charge sheet dated October 22nd 2014. The family is headed back to the court to seek an injunction that should block Gakuhi from accessing the hero’s estate but they suffered a major set back when they found out that their lawyer  John Khaminwa was playing game with them. he had been lying about filing an appeal.
