Former ANC party Secretary General Barrack Muluka is lining up to join Deputy President William Ruto’s political camp barely two months after he ditched Musalia Mudavadi’s party on August 12.
Muluka met the former Energy CS Davis Chirchir, a close ally of the DP, at city hotel on Thursday where they had lengthy discussions on working together at the Ruto’s camp.
He is a seasoned strategic communication adviser, publishing editor, a writer and a commentator on social and public affairs.
Mr Chirchir is an IT genius who was accused of participating in rigging of the 2013 elections. He came to the spotlight when he was appointed Energy CS by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He left the ministry after he was widely mentioned in corruption scandals that saw the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission file charges against him in court.
The controversial man was cleared of the charges, served as Jubilee Party agent during the 2017 general elections and after the polls, Chirchir went ‘underground’ but is still remains a close ally of the Dp behind the scenes.
Muluka who been ANC’s secretary general since 2015 quit his position claiming that he had achieved his goal so it was time to “decongest” the party leadership and allow Mudavadi to make critical decisions ahead of 2022.
He also dismissed obvious reasons that he was headed to Ruto’s camp where most of his peers are shifting to as 2022 politics continue to take shape.
On September 14, Eliud Owalo, who had moved from ODM to ANC also joined the Dp’s camp.
Muluka claimed he was ditching ANC because he had achieved his goals in the party that includes helping Mudavadi to write and publish his biography, Soaring above the Storms of Passion, published last year.
He also claims responsibility for re-organizing and strengthening the Party ahead of 2017 and 2022 despite ANC standing no chance.
