Judiciary Breaks Silence On Rumored Mwilu, Wanjala Resignations

The Judiciary has refuted circulating reports that two members of the Supreme Court’s 7-judge bench; Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu and Honourable Justice Dr Smokin Wanjala have notified the registrar of the Judicial Service Comision (JSC) of their intention to resign.

In a social media post published on Sunday, September 11, 2022, the independent custodian of justice labelled the information as fake news.

“Information has it Supreme Court Judges Smokin Wanjala and DCJ Philomena Mwilu submits notices of registration to the registrar JSC, reasons not disclosed,” read part of the online leaflet that went viral during the weekend.

In a subsequent statement released on Tuesday, September 12, the Judiciary also condemned what it termed as sustained attacks on judges following the Supreme Court decision on the presidential election petition.
