Kabogo calls on Uhuru, Raila to quit the political stage in 2022

Former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo is calling on President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga to retire together in 2022. Speaking on KTN’s Point Blank show, Kabogo emphasized that the two leaders must not participate in the coming polls to save the nation from acrimonious contest.

He pointed that their involvement in the 2022 polls would negate the good strides made through the handshake and Building Bridges Initiative and plunge the country into tribal groupings and contest.

Kabogo pointed that there are reasons to believe that President Kenyatta and the opposition chief are plotting to use the BBI to creatie themselves positions and cling in government beyond 2022. He also urged that the Deputy President William Ruto should also reconsider his 2022 candidature for the top seat as part of efforts to allow the country to heal.

Leaders including COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli have asked President Kenyatta to consider being in government beyond 2022, arguing that he is still young. There are proposals to create the position of the prime minister and the two deputies.

He also pointed that the two leaders must stay out of the Kibra campaigns for the survival of the handshake. He said that he was scared when he saw President Uhuru Kenyatta endorse McDonald Mariga for the Kibra seat but the situation was salvaged when Jubilee’s Maina Kamanda endorsed ODM candidate Imran Okoth.

Kabogo also warned Mt Kenya region to stick together despite efforts by rogue politicians to cause divisions. He said that not sticking together will see them out of government for the next fifteen years.
