The first governor of Kiambu county, Hon. William Kabogo has come out to demand the release of controversial blogger Robert Alai.
Speaking on popular social media platform Twitter, Hon. Kabogo demanded the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions release the blogger who was arrested Friday afternoon.
With 15 cases of the coronavirus (COVID-19) reported so far in the country, Kabogo says all petty offenders and suspects should be released on free police bond. “…That includes R. Alai,” he wrote.
Alai who was the first person to report that Kenya had reported two more cases of Coronavirus even before President Uhuru Kenyatta relayed the same information to the public was arrested for unknown reasons. Sources say that a Tweet he made claiming that the government was not honest with the Coronavirus pandemic in Kenya was the reason.
In the tweet, he claimed that two people had succumbed to the virus in Mombasa and the matter hidden from the public.
