A youth caucus affiliated to the independence party, Kenya African National Union (Kanu) has revealed that the outfit has established plans to revive it in readiness for the 2022 elections.
Speaking at party headquarters, the group said that in Nairobi that executive leaders of the party have been considering options to rebrand it as they team up with like-minded individuals.
Chairman Kanu Youth congress Jonah Onyango revealed that the party has lined up a series of political activities where they will only sell the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) but also sell their agenda.
“ For a very long time, the cockerel has been hibernating but we are now sending a very clear message out here that Kanu is back and we will be working with like-minded Kenyans to take this country to the next level,’ said Onyango.
In particular, Onyango said the party has developed a strategy of how they will involve the youth who will be tasked to come up with songs and initiatives of encouraging more people to join the party.
Key in the plan is the re-branding and giving it a name that will shed off the jinx that has been associated with it and registration of members.
It is set to be renamed Kanu-Fresh.
“We are back and we are back with a bang. Our agenda as young people is to ensure that this party has regained the command it used to have in the early days. We will crisscross this country as we prepare for the 2022 elections,” said Bella Achieng.
Achieng added, “We believe that the five bench ruling did not capture the interests of Kenyans. We disagree with the ruling and we will continue to campaign for this document”.
Baringo senator Gideon Moi who is the party leader has also been hosting delegations on creating networks with ‘like-minded leaders’ for a formidable alliance.
Moi who is eyeing the top seat is part of the one Kenya alliance comprising Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, FORD Kenya leader Moses Wetangula and Amani National Congress (ANC) Musalia Mudavadi.
