KenGen appoints three directors in board shake-up

Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) has announced the appointment of lawyer Julius Migos Ogamba as its new board chairman to replace Samson Mwathethe who has served in the position since November 2020.

Mr Mwathethe, who previously served as Kenya’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) between 2015 and 2019, was last month appointed by President William Ruto as the non-executive chairperson of the Kenya Forestry Research Institute.

The KenGen appointment follows a meeting of the board on Tuesday, February 28, 2023.

In a notice published in the local dailies, KenGen said Mr Ogamba will be tasked with leading the board in providing the oversight needed to ensure the electricity producer remains in sustainable business.

Mr Julius Ogamba is a seasoned, visionary and accomplished advocate with about 30 years of experience in legal practice. He is a driven, detail-oriented senior advocate with a proven track record of leading teams,” said KenGen.

Ogamba holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Nairobi, a Diploma in Law from the University of London’s Institute of Advanced Legal Studies and a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.
