Addressing the media while receiving the title deed for the Thigirici land at her Kagio residence, Governor Ann Waiguru said that the recovery of the land is as a result of a vigorous court battle pitting the county and the private developer.

The governor said that the private developer had used dubious ways to allocate themselves huge chunks of land belonging to the defunct Kirinyaga County Council, saying that the win is a major milestone in recovering all grabbed public land.

Waiguru said that the county is also working hard to recover over 500 acres of public land that has been grabbed at the disputed South Ngariama ranch which was meant for the construction of University, health center and recreational facilities.

The Governor said that the 250 acre land which is next to the revamped Sagana railway station will be used to set up an industrial park that will help in boosting the economy of the county and the larger Mt Kenya region.

Waiguru noted that the industrial park will go a long way in ensuring value addition for the various agricultural products that are produced in the county, which will be transported by rail to the various markets.
