Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru Is Having The Last Laugh In This Tussle

A few weeks ago, Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru was laughed at by Punguza Mizigo Initiative boss Ekuru Aukot and others for having celebrated the defeat of the bill at the Nyeri County Assembly prematurely.

Blogs and Aukot painted Waiguru as clueless and greedy, but going by the recent defeats for Aukot at the floor of 4 out of 5 County Assemblies, fortunes of one of the frontpersons for the Embrace Team Anne Waiguru has changed online. This is one of those coverage.

The Madam Boss of Kirinyaga has been sharing the defeat of Punguza Mizigo with a smile, one can read a smile from her posts on social media.

She’s actually having the last laugh. She won’t forget.

Punguza Mizigo Technician Dr. Ekuru Aukot. A man who engineered the current constitution that he now seeks to change. How convenient?

Ekuru’s bill has only received goodwill from one county Uasin Gishu out of 16 that the bill has been tabled in.

Below is what she wrote on her pages after news of Punguza Mizigo defeats broke.

Nyeri County

As I’ve said before, Mt Kenya is fully in support of BBI as evidenced today in Nyeri where the bill presented by Ekuru Aukot has been rejected by the whole assembly. Nyeri County has set the precedence, other counties are most likely to follow. These are signs of the times ahead.

For this she was castigated and dismissed as shown below

Nyeri county Speaker John Kaguchia later clarified saying that the bill was never put to vote

Kirinyaga County

The County Assembly of Kirinyaga has today thrown out the Punguza Mizigo Bill. Kirinyaga County remains firmly in support of HE Uhuru Kenyatta, the handshake, BBI & stands for cohesion and unity in the country.

Fortunately for Kenya, we run on the basis of law not on Ekuru Aukot directives. The Bill was thrown out on the basis of the Law and Standing Orders of the Kirinyaga County Assembly. Period. Even on its merits this Bill is in any event an unfortunate embarrassment.

Muranga County

Mount Kenya is speaking loudly on the dishonest #PunguzaMizigoBill2019 & suddenly those leaders who supported it claim it was not their agenda.. interesting times!

Uasin Gishu County
