Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has affirmed she has nothing against Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking during an interview with a local newspaper on Thursday, Waiguru affirmed that she has no personal grudge with the second in command. She noted that she respects him at a professional level, adding that she has always worked with dignity where needed.
The governor also said the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga shaped many things in the political arena.
She noted that the country has been more united after the two leaders agreed to work together. She asked Kenyans to back the handshake for the sake of peace and economic empowerment.
“Again, let me start by saying that this is politics. The handshake is between my party leader Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and Raila Amollo Odinga. And the Jubilee Party has endorsed the handshake. I am just supporting a handshake endorsed by the party. And I have nothing against William Ruto, for the record,” she said.
On the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal, Waiguru affirmed that she is still innocent. She faulted leaders who wanted to politicize the fight against graft.
The former Devolution Cabinet Secretary also said that she would take a stab at the national politics in 2022. She, however, did not clarify which positions she is eyeing.
