As part of the fight against Corona Virus, Government embarked on a number of misguided initiatives, ostensibly to fight the pandemic. This included the unfortunate militarization of the war, which has undermined any efforts for eradication as numbers keep escalating by the day. The Ministry of Health which has portrayed outright impotence and inability to respond to emerging health challenges, absconded their mandate as laid out in the Public Health Act, as conceded their role to security organs in the country.
One of the most confused initiative was involving police in the fight against Corona, who working in concert with security firms, have continued to invade the privacy of residential areas in upmarket areas, as they prepare to conduct criminal activities in the future. Of all the companies in the country, Kenya Kazi (KK) security has emerged as the leading culprit, where their guards working in the Kilimani and Kileleshwa area, have been coordinating with area police to raid homes under the guise of noise. Complaints reaching our news desk indicate that KK is purporting to act as an unofficial intelligence outfit, with their guards snitching on movements of individuals in specific apartment blocks.
These calls are largely conducted with the help of neighbours who seem not to understand the implications of allowing outsiders to breach their privacy, irrespective of the scaremongering theatrics by the Ministry of Health. These breaches are not just limited to health but could be abused in the future, especially when you allow uniformed criminals into your house.
In most cases, KK security officers are said to earn commissions from monies extorted from unsuspecting victims avoiding jail, which in turn acts as an incentive for such an informal collaborative mechanism.
Violence and torture have been used on poor residents who were just having their own fun, within the recommended numbers within their quarters, leading people to wonder if violence & police brutality are a WHO-recommended strategy for fighting the virus.

Residents are also calling on KK Security and other security companies to immediately cease snitching on neighbours or risk losing business.
