Former NTV Journalist Lolani Kalu is set to make a comeback on your screens after landing a media role with TV47.
Lolani’s plight was highlighted back in September with his fans appealing to the public to come to his aid after losing his job with NTV back in 2017
Lolani revealed that he has signed a one-year contract with the TV station that will see him become the coast region reporter.
“I have signed a one-year deal with TV47, the opportunity came after fans saw me shooting my personal shows with one of the artists I was interviewing having TV47 branding.
“Fans called TV47 to find out if I had signed a deal with the station, and that prompted them to hand me a contract. I will be a coast regional reporter covering the six counties,” he explained.
Lolani was delighted after securing the deal and is confident it will help him regain his footing after financial struggles in recent years.
He is hoping to revive some of his shows at TV47 such as Malimwengu na Lolani and Gumzo Mtaani that he hosted while still at NTV.
The journalist added that he is on a mission to give back to the fans who came out in droves to support him when his story took social media by a storm.
“I want to appreciate fans who did a fundraiser for me through some of the shows that I will do, some of them have started suggesting the stories they would want to be covered.
“I was already doing some of my shows that focused on the impact of Covid-19 on local artists, and I plan to do that in all the 47 counties,” he noted.
Lolani revealed that discussions are in progress with TV47 to set an exact date for him to return to the screens after putting pen to paper with the station.
He also thanked the fans who overwhelmingly supported him financially adding that he spent all the money in acquiring equipment including a KSh 370,000 camera.
