A looming battle is expected in Kiambaa Constituency between President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee and his Deputy William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party for the forthcoming by-election set for June 15, 2021.
The ruling party has already awarded nomination certificate to its candidate who will fly the Jubilee party flag in the Kiambaa by-election.
Karanja Kariri was awarded the certificate as the candidate for Jubilee party to vie for the MP seat in Kiambaa constituency.
The party also issued a certificate to Joseph
Githinji to vie for a Member of County Assembly seat in Muguga ward
by-election.
The two were awarded the party’s certificate after
emerging the best candidates following rigorous interviews.
This comes after the party resorted to conducting
nominations through interviews following the humiliating defeats it suffered in
recent elections.
The party carried out interviews for all Jubilee
Party aspirants in the Kiambaa and Magunga ward by-elections in Kiambu County.
It also indicated the interviews were done as per the party’s nomination rules and Article 11 of the Jubilee Party constitution.

This comes when Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria’s
People Empowerment Party (PEP) has withdrawn from the Kiambaa by-election
favouring the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.
Both associated with the hustler nation, the two
outfits were poised to clash in the mini-poll as they had both fielded
candidates.
However, Taking to Facebook on Monday, May 24, Kuria
said his party had resolved to withdraw from the race after holding extensive
discussions with Deputy President William Ruto.
“Yesterday, I held extensive discussions with
my boss and friend William Ruto on this matter. To make my two colleagues happy
and above all for the unity of the Hustler Nation, PEP will not be fielding a
candidate for the Kiambaa by-election,” Kuria said.
