The Luo Nation seems to be at a crossroads, with bloggers tearing at each other. Why? The elephant in the room is who should the community believe between Raila Odinga and Siaya Senator James Orengo (pictured)? Sources whispered to Corridors that Jim, as Orengo is popularly known, could be getting it right this time with the Nyanza constituency on his position on the BBI. Those in the know say the region is increasingly becoming reluctant to back the document without any tangible evidence that President Uhuru Kenyatta will support Raila for the presidency in 2022. However, Raila’s confidants claim they have changed strategy, from the usual combative politics that have got them “nowhere”. The matter has, however, divided their online troops and the resultant combat is bloody.
Residents of a county in Rift Valley are wondering why there is so much bad blood between their governor and a female MCA. The ward representative has been insulting the county boss on social media platforms in what seems to be an endless campaign to settle scores. And with the insults probably not doing enough damage, the woman recently said she will soon drop a bombshell that will make it impossible for the governor to seek reelection. The dossier, according to the ward rep, would have the Directorate of Criminal Investigations look for the county chief. A bird told Corridors that the governor has approached the MCA’s parents to stop the attacks but in vain.
A former MP who wants to be a governor in one of the counties in the Eastern region is said to be paying local musicians to produce songs that praise him for the work he did as a legislator. The lyrics of the songs also mention the plans the former lawmaker has for the county. Several songs are already out. However, most local radio stations do not play these songs. Reason: The radio stations are owned by an influential figure who is an ally of the county boss whom the ex-lawmaker wants to replace. And with bars closed because of Covid-19, the songs are nowhere to be heard.
A Nairobi MP could face the wrath of his constituents after word went out that the legislator lied to them when some families were being evicted from a piece of land. When the eviction was being conducted, the MP told his voters that the exercise was well-intended as a health facility would be built on the land. However, months after the evictions, goons associated with the legislator have set up small businesses on the land and with impunity, they tell those who raise questions that they are there to stay. A local revealed that there are plans to hold street protests to force the new occupiers to vacate.
