This effort aims to support nearly 1,000 students by upgrading educational facilities.

At Kametho Primary School in Siaya, Ksh. 35 million has been used to create modern learning spaces.

The school now has new classrooms for early years, primary, and junior secondary education, along with an ICT lab to support digital learning.

Enhanced sanitary facilities and a new kitchen have also been added to improve student well-being.

“Education transforms communities and changes lives no matter where one comes from. For this reason, we stay committed to improving schools and investing in learning spaces.” said Joseph Ogutu, Chairman of Safaricom Foundation.

In Homa Bay, a similar effort is underway at Ober Primary School with a Ksh. 40 million budget.

This will result in new classrooms for all levels, a facility for early learners, and a 40-seater ICT lab.

Other additions include improved sanitary facilities for students and teachers, as well as a kitchen to provide meals.

The Citizens of the Future Programme goes beyond building facilities.

Its goal is to provide children with access to quality education and better opportunities.

Since 2010, over 1.3 million students in Kenya’s 47 counties have benefited from M-Pesa Foundation’s school projects.

The Foundation also runs the M-Pesa Foundation Academy, which offers scholarships to children from underprivileged backgrounds.

This commitment to education is part of Safaricom’s broader mission to support sustainable development and community empowerment.

The Ksh. 75 million investment in Siaya and Homa Bay reflects the Foundation’s dedication to improving access to learning for students across the country.
