Machakos County under the governorship of the PR guru Dr. Alfred can only afford to conduct HIV tests to it’s residents once in every year.
The sinister move came into the limelight after one the county’s residents who requested to remain anonymous raised alarm through Blogger Cyprian Nyakundi’s Telegram channel.
The dissatisfied resident of Mlolongo raised issues with the dilapidated health sector of the county that rants to be the place to be. Governor Alfred Mutua is not walking at the speed of his lips, a lot of dirt is covered with PR statements and bright colors to hoodwink the citizens.
With health sector remaining one the key challenging functions the national government threw to the devolved units under the new dispensation, many counties including Machakos cannot handle it.
Residents who turn to health facilities in Machakos are being turned away with a warning that HIV tests have been postponed until next year.
Machako’s has failed terribly, the residents want to know from the sweet talking governor if the dire situation can be salvaged before 2021.

People seeking for HIV testing are being turned away. Wanasema kupimwa ni once in a year” it reads.
The complainant went ahead and asked if the move means that HIV can only be detected once in a year in Machakos.
“Does it mean that siku hizi HIV can only be detected after one? …plz hide my identity”, he/she posed.
Data from Naishi Health Solution shows that Machakos, Makueni and Kitui counties with a combined population of approximately 3,069,709 and a HIV prevalence of 4.5%, 5.1% and 4.4% respectively.
