Police in Bondo have seized a 30-year-old man for defiling his 9 years old niece at Kanyandiri village within Bondo Sub County in Kisumu.
The suspect, Lucas Wata was intercepted by family members with the help of fellow villagers while trying to escape.
He was taken to Bondo Police Station where he is being held awaiting to be charged with rape on Monday.
The victim was referred to nearby hospital for treatment and medical examination to draw samples which will be used as exhibits in court.
She was first treated at the Nango Health Center and later transferred to Bondo sub-county hospital for proper medication.
Preliminary police findings show the suspect lured the Grade Three minor into his house before committing the heinous act.
“We have the suspect in custody. He will be arraigned to face necessary charges.” A senior detective told The Informer.
He is also accused of beating the minor up as she attempted to raise distress call for help.
She, however, managed to escape and immediately notified his uncle at a nearby home what had transpired.
