Tanzanian Billionaire and businessman Mohammed Dewji is the only East African listed on the latest Forbes list of the 18 richest Africans. The 45-year-old tycoon is worth $1.6 billion and is ranked as the youngest billionaire in Africa.
Mohammed Dewji is the Chief Executive Officer of MeTL, a Tanzanian conglomerate engaged in textile manufacturing, flour milling, and production of beverages and edible oils.
Forbes listed Nigeria’s Aliko Dangote as the richest person on the continent for the tenth consecutive year, with a net worth of $12 billion.
According to the business magazine, Africa has 18 dollar billionaires who have a combined worth of $73.8 billion, a slight increase from the $73.4 billion aggregate worth of the 20 billionaires on the list in 2020.
Other billionaires on the list are Egypt’s Nassef Sawiris, South African Nicky Oppenheimer, South African Johann Rupert, Nigerian Mike Adenuga, Nigerian Abdulsamad Rabiu, Algerian Issad Rebrab, Egyptian Naguib Sawiris, South African Patrice Motsepe, South African Koos Bekker, Egyptian Mohamed Mansour, Moroccan Aziz Akhannouch, Egyptian Youssef Mansour, Moroccan Othman Benjelloun, Moroccan Michiel Le Roux, Zimbabwean Strive Masiyiwa, and Egyptian Yasseen Mansour.
