An impeachment motion against Deputy President William Ruto might be in the making after several Members of Parliament (MPs) hinted towards this in the last few days due to the DPs involvement in the fake Sh40 billion arms deal and a policeman’s murder.

During the funeral of the University of Nairobi’s Prof Gilbert Ogutu and politician Omolo Rading’s son in Siaya, region Senator James Orengo said ODM, handshake guru Raila Odinga’s party, is considering all constitutional means in dealing with the DP. “Watch this space. In two weeks we will start the process that will see us deal with him.”

The leaders have noted that the DP’s office, unlike the President’s, does not enjoy immunity and is therefore not protected against investigations and prosecutions.

Tiaty MP William Kamket who is a staunch supporter of Senator Gideon Moi and a harsh critic of the DP is also among leaders who have urged the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to investigate and prosecute Dr. Ruto. taking to his twitter account, the lawmaker said that the Dp is a threat to National Security. “He is too angry to serve all Kenyans in his capacity now as DP and in any future capacity. He must be impeached ASAP. No one is above the law”

Senator Orengo and MPs Otiende Amolo (Rarieda) and Oburu Odinga (EALA) further accused Dr. Ruto of bringing dishonor and disrespect to the presidency.

The lawmakers insist that the DP should stop asking DCI detectives to arrest those behind Kenei’s murder. “The crime was committed right at your premises by your officers and your friend Echesa. The conclusion is that you know what happened.”

Speaking in Gem, Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi said every Kenyan must respect and obey the law. “Nobody is above the law. The late Kenei was a Kenyan who deserves justice,” he said.

Dp Rutos response

The DP, however, insists he doesn’t have anything to do with the “crooks and cartels” who infiltrated his offices.

During Sergeant Kipyegon Kenei’s burial, Ruto claimed the fake Sh40 billion arms deal and the murder were elaborate schemes orchestrated to undermine and destroy his office and political career
