Dp William Ruto was on charm offensive of Mt. Kenya region accompanied by 15 MPs from central Kenya. As usual the DP was holding a fundraiser in a bid to win the vote from the over populated region.
As the noise generated from the Mau politics continue to gather momentum, calls to stop earlier campaigns ahead of 2022 being the politics itself. Speakers at the event that was held at Kangaita Primary for a funds drive in aide of Kangaita Catholic Church in Kirinyaga had no soothing utterance at the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. They called on him to forget about being president and retire in 2022.
These calls are made few weeks after the Kirinyaga governor Ann Waiguru hinted that the region was warming up to Odinga presidency. Tanga Tanga team has over the time made it clear that Ruto’s race to state is unstoppable. Central Kenya remains a swing vote region that every serious presidential candidate will need to win.
All signals point that the 2022 battle will be between DP William Ruto and Raila Odinga. Odinga on the other hand maintains that it’s not clear if he will run or not and that this is not the time to pre-empt but serve the people and develop the country. In a clever way, the handshake goes beyond just bringing the nation together but the ODM leader is using it to prepare for 2022.
As the DP’s team continues to drum support with pledges not to stop before Ruto becomes president. Mps who accompanied the DP to Kirinyaga include, Gichimu Githinji, Rigathi Gachagua, George Murugara, Munene Wambugu, Ndindi Nyoro and Kirinyaga Women rep Wangui Ngirici, Tharaka Nthi’s Beatrice Nkatha and Faith Gitau of Nyandarua among others.s
They also pointed that they will not embrace Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) as it is sdesigned to propel Odinga to state house. Ms Ngirici in her address called for the BBI’s disbandment as it was a waste of time and public resources. They say BBI was a project that was meant to unite Kenyans but later turned into a political outfit to drum support for Odinga.
Ruto’s efforts to capture Mt Kenya are on a good course as his team called on Odinga to retire with Uhuru in 2022. Kihara Mp decribed him as a spent bullet.
