The body of the late Retired President Daniel arap Moi was wheeled by a carriage from State House to Nyayo Stadium on Tuesday morning ahead of the state funeral service.
This came a day after the three-day body viewing exercise at Parliament Building came to an end on Monday evening.
It was an all military affair as a contingent of security officers in motorbikes accompanied the late Moi’s body to the stadium.
The casket carrying his remains was draped with the Kenyan flag and escorted by military officers in a slow-paced march of honor to Nyayo Stadium.
The draping of the casket in military colors is a practice that indicates that indeed the deceased is appreciated and honored by the state
Other military officers marched side by side of the carriage as the trumpet was played while KDF soldiers lined up beside the road as the convoy snaked its way through Mombasa road to Nyayo Stadium.
The late Moi’s body was first taken to Statehouse Nairobi where foreign heads of state paid their last respect to the fallen hero.
President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to grace the interdenominational service which will be attended by thousands of Kenyans.
