An alert has been sent out to parents and guardians within Murang’a County to make their way to the Makuyu Police Station and identify their sons and daughters from a group of drunk and disorderly students who were picked up near Kenol area after a night full of partying.
Reports of the event circulated across social media on Wednesday, 15 December 2021, suggested that the students from Gatitu Mixed Secondary School had decided to grant themselves an early Christmas treat ahead of the upcoming short holidays.
But their drinking escapade soon turned tragic as the booze proved too strong for their young souls to handle.
Netizens were left dumbstruck by some of the disturbing images from the unfortunate incident.

This has led to the rebirth of the contentious topic of the reintroduction of corporal punishment in schools.
But some experts have blamed drug abuse, stress, curriculum overload and poor student-teacher relations for the unrest.
Since the outbreak of the coronavirus in Kenya in March 2020, schools were closed for several months, until late last year.
As a result, the government has also been putting more pressure on teachers and students to recover the time lost.
