The Governor of central bank of Kenya Patrick Njoroge has been ranked the best performing Central Bank Governor in sub Saharan region.
The annual award is organized by Global Markets magazine that recognizes good efforts by bank managers across the globe. Njoroges award is attributed to his efforts that have seen great improvements in Kenyan banking sector and aiding the expansion of domestic capital markets during his tenure.
He has presided over consolidation within the banking sector and pushed clean up and improved monitoring. This has seen tightened lending standards.
Njoroge is serving his second term after President Uhuru Kenyatta reappointed him last June. He is expected to continue being at the forefront in fight for the repeal of capping regulations that began during his early years in office.
