In his address, Dr. Ndegwa commended the university for its achievements in research and technological development, all aimed at fostering sustainability.
He expressed gratitude for presiding over his first graduation as Chancellor while receiving this doctorate, emphasizing the theme of the event: “Mainstreaming Research, Innovation, and Technology for Sustainable Development.”
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Romanus Odhiambo also congratulated Dr. Ndegwa, acknowledging his leadership at Safaricom and the positive impact it has had on the university.
He cited initiatives like the recent Innovation and Exhibition Week (MUSTIEW 2024) and the launch of the Artificial Intelligence Institute and GSM Lab as examples of this influence.
This year’s graduation saw over 2,900 students receive their degrees, the largest graduating class in Meru University’s history.
