The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has increased super petrol prices by Ksh 0. 77 cents effective June 15, 2021.
Therefore, it will cost Ksh 127.14 per liter for petrol users in Nairobi .
Those in Mombasa will pay Ksh 124.72 a liter of petrol.
However, the prices of diesel and kerosene remain unchanged.
According to EPRA, the eight percent Value Added Tax (VAT) and revised rates of excise duty adjusted for the increase of goods and services are the factors it considered in the computation of retail prices.
In a statement by the Authority, it is attributing the increase to the average landed cost of importation.
A cubic meter of super petrol by 1.52 percent from Ksh 52,656 in April 2021 to Ksh 53,455 in May 2021.
Further, diesel landed costs increased by 5.08 percent from Ksh 47,367 per cubic meter to Ksh 49,775.
Kerosene increased by 4.41 percent from Ksh 46,376 to Ksh 48,420.
