Hundreds of church faithfuls on Sunday accessed free medical checkup services organised by Lifecare Hospitals Bungoma.

The faithfuls, who had turned up for a church service at King Jesus Faith Church in Bungoma town, took advantage of the free medical camp by the private hospital to access Free dental checkup, Free sugar testing, Free doctors’ consultation and Free Blood Pressure Testing.

The exercise, which took place from 10.30am and ended at 2pm, saw over 100 patients screened for different tests.

According to the Hospital’s PR Manager Pascalydiah Nelima, 11 patients were found to have High blood pressure while 21 had dental diseases with 6 having high sugar level.

“We managed to establish various cases which our doctors have advised accordingly to ensure that lives are saved as earlier as possible instead of waiting for the last minute when diseases have caused much damage to the body,” she said.

The exercise was conducted by highly-specialized medical team from the hospital led by Dr Mohammed, a resident Dentist at Lifecare Hospital Bungoma.

Patients who benefited from the camp expressed their gratitude for the free medical checkup with most of them citing lack of enough time from their job schedule to visit hospitals for consultations.

“For me, I work from Monday to Saturday and rarely get time to have a medical checkup to establish if I have any complication,” said a faithful who identified herself as Mama Esther.

Others cited high consultation fee charged by doctors as reason why many patients avoid seeking medical checkups.

“I took advantage of this camp as I could not manage the consultation fee charged in hospitals. This camp has enabled me know my sugar level and been advised accordingly, something I could not have found out,” added a patient who identified himself as Brother Joseph, 41.

Lifecare Hospital Bungoma has been on the forefront organizing hundreds of Free Medical screening through their various community outreach to benefit those who many be limited to visit their nearest hospitals for medical checkups.

The Hospital is planning to have Free specialty consultations during the month of February.
